D
D locus — dilution
Controls: Whether a colour is dense (full) or dilute (softened).
How it works
The D locus controls dilution. Dominant D keeps colour dense; two copies of the recessive d dilute it: black→blue, chocolate→lilac, cinnamon→fawn, red→cream.
