About the breed
The Sphynx is a hairless breed (often with a fine downy fuzz) whose warm, soft skin shows the coat pattern in pigment. It is extroverted, energetic and notably affectionate, and its skin needs regular cleaning.
Skin pigment can show any colour or pattern a coated cat would have.
Frequently asked questions
Is the Sphynx hypoallergenic?+
Not fully — allergies react to a skin protein (Fel d 1), not hair, so a Sphynx can still trigger them, though some sufferers report milder reactions.
How do you care for Sphynx skin?+
Regular gentle bathing/wiping to remove skin oils, plus warmth — with no coat, the breed feels the cold and sun more than coated cats.
Are Sphynx cats affectionate?+
Famously so — it is one of the most people-oriented breeds and seeks warmth and laps constantly.
